Waterloo was my neighborhood record store for 22 years. Every town needs a store like that! Great list, thanks for sharing.

Can I tell you how insanely jealous I am that you lived so close to Waterloo? I honestly almost think about it once a week and how much I regret not buying anything there as a physical token of my trip wish we had more Waterloos for sure

Other record stores could take tips from them as a survive and thrive story. They host live music every week, bigger events take over their parking lot. They have signing parties, you can listen to an album before buying. They have a whole wall dedicated to Texas based artists (including indies). And they sell all kinds of impulse buys— pop culture trinkets at their finest. Plus, they donate gift cards for local charity auctions.

Literally they are the template for record stores. I can’t wait to go back one day soon

Some good buys. That RAMP album is superb (and the originals are very hard to find & pricey!). The 1st EW&F album is exactly that...FIRE! I tell people all the time to ignore what they think they know about EW&F because their first three LPs are not what they probably expect! They are jazzy, funky masterpieces of the highest order. "Bad Tune" on that s/t LP is like a long-lost jazzy Santana track. It's such a scorching tune that it wouldn't sound out of place on Santana III! I love it when the drums kick in at the 3'30 mark. Tremendous stuff! Happy listening!

Couldn’t agree more! Bad Tune is ironically a Great Tune. It reminds me of the funkier version of what would become Kalimba for them with the vibes. With RAMP, I’ve been looking everywhere for an OG and finally broke my rule of no reissues because I just had to have it. I’m so happy you know these albums. You have great taste!

Great to see you back! Love this list, and that wall/display is awesome! I’m not sure it’s possible to overpay for Kashif. What a killer find! Speaking of killer finds, is Robert ok?

Thanks for the kind words, Kevin! Haha you may be right about Kashmir but he’s been popping up everywhere lately for me at much lower prices but still happy to have it finally. Robert on the other hand - he is just a character and doing his damned best. I respect his hustle for sure. Check out their instagram to see the man the myth the Robert
